The one-year course comprises five modules taught over 8 weekends.
1. Principles of Sign Language Interpreting
2. English as a Source and Target Language
3. From Translation Theory to Simultaneous Interpreting
4. Interpreting as a Profession
5. Practicum
Assessment:
Assessment for the postgraduate diploma is based on a mix of traditional university assignments (written essays) and a portfolio of evidence of competence in the workplace.
As applicants will have already achieved the NVQ BSL Level 6 or equivalent, it is safe to assume that the majority will be working either in the community or in educational establishments. Consequently, students should have ample opportunity for evidence collection.
